The National Commission for Lebanese Women’s Affairs holds a series of national consultations to update the draft of the second national action plan to implement Security Council resolution 1325 on women, peace and security, with the participation of Diyarna Association

The National Commission for Lebanese Women’s Affairs held a series of national consultative meetings to update the draft of the second national action plan to implement Security Council resolution 1325 on women, peace and security in line with the context of the current situation of the country, collect new visions and observations on its content, and discuss the proposed interventions to advance the process of its development.

Representatives and representatives of ministries, public administrations, security and military institutions, civil society organisations and international organisations participated in these meetings. Lawyer Natalie Zaarour, Secretary of the National Commission, and Ms. Lamia Asiran, Treasurer of the National Authority and members of the General Assembly in the National Commission, also participated.

The series of these meetings comes within the framework of following up the preparation of the second national action plan for the implementation of Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security commissioned by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and in order to update the information discussed during the series of preliminary and consultative meetings and meetings held during 2024.

It should be noted that these meetings fall within the framework of the path adopted by the National Commission for the Development of the Second National Action Plan for the Implementation of Security Council Resolution 1325, with the support of UN-Women.

During the meetings, Lawyer Lara, Her Excellency the Chairperson of the Women’s Participation in Decision-Making Committee in the Authority and the Officer of the Women’s Agenda, Peace and Security in the Authority, reviewed the priorities of the plan, its axes, the mechanism of work and the proposed interventions, and a discussion between the participants and the participants in this framework.
