“Streetlight Repair Initiative” in Burj Al-Shamali Camp

As part of its efforts to improve living conditions and enhance public safety within the camp, Diarna Association launched an initiative to repair street lighting in Burj Al-Shamali Camp, aiming to illuminate the main road and several key residential areas.

The initiative included:

  • Repairing faulty lighting in several streets across the camp.

  • Installing light sensors that automatically activate the lamps at night, with the goal of reducing electricity consumption during the day and extending the lifespan of the bulbs.

  • Enhancing residents’ sense of safety by restoring lighting to previously dark areas, helping to reduce accidents and provide comfort, especially during evening hours.

The initiative was widely welcomed by refugees in the camp, who expressed their relief and satisfaction at the return of lighting after a prolonged outage. They considered the step an improvement in their daily lives and a clear example of the importance of community-driven initiatives and collective action.

The association reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its work by launching more essential initiatives within the camps, addressing residents’ needs and contributing to their resilience.
